US Claims China Is Targeting Kenya for a Military Base

The US suspects that China could soon have a military camp in Kenya. According to a report by Pentagon Tuesday, China is eyeing not only Kenya but also neighboring countries like Tanzania.

If this is anything to go by, it means China is keen on building a strong military power globally. China has already considered many countries, including Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Kenya, United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, Seychelles, Tajikistan, and Angola, as possible locations for the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) military bases.

China’s objective is to use its military power to ensure its foreign policies are achieved. The country also wants to assert itself as a global leader militarily.

Do you think China is going to succeed in this mission?

Daniel Prude’s Death: Will Police Be Charged?

The death of Daniel Prude became public just a few days ago, but the question that remains unanswered is whether the police will be charged.

The news of Daniel’s death sparked anger, which led to peaceful protests across the state and some scattered acts of vandalism.

Public officials went on a finger-pointing spree, with none willing to take responsibility. However, with the public dialogue mentioning raging protests, reforms might just be on the way and a likelihood of police facing the law.

There’s a video showing how Daniel was restrained, which can be used to decide whether the police acted within the law. The autopsy results can also provide further evidence should the case go to court.

We still ask the same question. Will the officer(s) involved in Daniel’s death be charged?

COVID-19 Herd Immunity Approach Could Be a Disaster

Since the first case of coronavirus was reported last year, many medical scientists have come up with several theories on how it may eventually get defeated. The virus has already claimed about over 881,000 lives worldwide, and the number is growing daily.

While some scientists believe a vaccine will be found, others believe heard immunity will be the easiest way out.

Those in the latter group believe that when many people have contracted the virus and recovered, there will be community-wide protection, and the number of those who can spread the virus will be limited.

However, some scientists disagree with this notion. Instead, they say herd immunity will only be possible when many people have been vaccinated.

The jury is still out. Will herd immunity be achieved through infections or vaccines?

Trump or Biden: Who Is Going to Win in 2020?

In two-months’ time, voters in the US are going to elect the new occupant of the White House. The two leading contenders are the current president, Donald Trump (Republican), and the former vice president, Joe Biden (Democrat).

As days go by, pollsters are trying to crunch figures and seek voters’ opinions to predict who might win the November 3rd polls.

Well, it isn’t easy to know outright who’s going to win the elections, more so because the US elections are based on the electoral college system. Many can remember that in the last polls, Hillary Clinton won the majority votes but lost because of the electoral college system.

As things stand now, most pollsters are putting Biden ahead of Donald, but given the silent majority, do you think Trump will occupy the White House after all?

How Has the Coronavirus Pandemic Impacted the US Economy?

The coronavirus outbreak has caused disruptive effects on the global economy, and the US hasn’t been spared. The worldwide supply of goods and services has been disrupted, making it hard for US firms to fill orders.

Many workers have lost their jobs, while there’s also a decrease in demand for US services and products.

According to Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF director, the virus has caused a lot of uncertainty globally, and this has made the financial markets rather volatile.

The GDP fell at an annualized rate of 32.9%, while over 30 million Americans have been surviving on unemployment checks since the government released the funds. Currently, over 2.5 million people in the US have the virus, with the death toll hitting over 190,000.

What many are asking is, when will this pandemic end?
